Circular unveils Ring 3 smart rings with NFC payments and haptic alerts

Stepping beyond basic biometric tracking, Circular’s new Ring 3 collection introduces integrated NFC chips for contactless payments and haptic vibration motors for on-the-go alerts. The launch splits the lineup into a high-end Pro model focused on medical-grade diagnostics and a streamlined Slim version designed for everyday comfort and discreet wear.

The Ring 3 Pro refines the design of its predecessor with a titanium build, offering improved durability alongside its signature FDA-cleared atrial fibrillation detection and ECG monitoring. Despite a smaller internal battery, the company claims to have boosted longevity to 12 days, supported by a wireless charging case that provides multiple top-ups on the go. Users can choose between gold, rose gold, silver, and black finishes.

For those prioritizing form factor, the Ring 3 Slim replaces the titanium construction with a biocompatible epoxy interior to reduce weight and thickness. While it retains essential photoplethysmography sensors to track heart rate and blood oxygen levels, it omits the specialized ECG hardware found in the Pro. Both models now support vibration-based alarms, medication reminders, and guided breathing exercises, effectively shifting the device from a passive tracker to an active wearable assistant.
