Bobby Jain Pivots Global Hedge Fund to Millennium Partnership
A 0.2% loss in August marked the final chapter for Jain Global as an independent multi-strategy firm, capping a 26-month journey that began with high expectations and concluded with a strategic pivot. The fund, which once managed $5.3 billion, will now operate exclusively as an internal vehicle for Izzy Englander’s firm.

The firm’s trajectory reflects the brutal economics of launching a multi-strategy platform from scratch. High operational costs across seven distinct business lines and delayed capital deployment—hampered by lengthy non-compete clauses for incoming talent—weighed heavily on net returns. Despite these hurdles, the fund posted a 3.7% return for 2026, though it ultimately failed to sustain the independence its backers, including GIC and the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, initially envisioned.
Bobby Jain, formerly a co-chief investment officer at Millennium, maintains that the transition will be seamless. The firm’s architecture was designed to mirror Millennium’s, facilitating a move that allows Jain to focus on managing money for a single partner. With over 400 staffers and 65 portfolio managers remaining on the roster, the New York-based organization is continuing its recruitment efforts in Asia. Top performers within the group will now have the opportunity to scale their capital through the Millennium framework, marking a shift from public fundraising to a concentrated, institutional mandate.
