Wix Faces Class Action Lawsuit Over AI Strategy and Margin Collapse
A 27% single-day share price drop in May has triggered a securities class action against Wix.com Ltd., as investors allege the web development firm misled the market about the true costs and competitive viability of its AI-driven initiatives, Base44 and Harmony, throughout the 2025-2026 fiscal period.

The lawsuit, filed in the Northern District of Illinois, targets Wix for allegedly overstating the performance of its AI tools while failing to disclose the ballooning costs required to sustain them. Plaintiffs claim that despite management’s public assurances regarding innovation-driven growth, the company’s financial health was quietly deteriorating under the weight of these technological pivots. By May 2026, those pressures culminated in a 46% year-over-year spike in operating expenses and a collapse in non-GAAP operating margins from 21% to just 5%.
During the May 13 earnings call, Wix leadership admitted that its Harmony platform suffered from significant functional gaps and delays, causing professional developers to abandon the ecosystem for competing tools. This disclosure wiped over $1.1 billion from the company’s market capitalization. Hagens Berman, the firm leading the litigation, is now investigating whether Wix intentionally obscured the negative financial impact of these AI rollouts. Investors who held securities between February 19, 2025, and May 12, 2026, face a September 22, 2026, deadline to seek lead plaintiff status.
