Hyundai Hope on Wheels Hits $303 Million Milestone for Pediatric Cancer
With $303 million in lifetime contributions, Hyundai Hope on Wheels marked 28 years of pediatric cancer advocacy during a gala in Washington, D.C. The organization, fueled by a network of over 855 U.S. dealers, used the event to honor community leadership while outlining an aggressive roadmap for international expansion.

The milestone, celebrated throughout National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, underscores a long-term commitment that has impacted the lives of more than 40,000 children. José Muñoz, president and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, credited the collective effort of the dealer network for sustaining the nonprofit's mission to fund life-saving research and clinical care. Beyond domestic efforts, the organization is scaling its footprint into Europe, with Sweden and Spain slated as the first markets for the program's international rollout, following established initiatives in Korea, Australia, and Mexico.
During the Washington summit, the inaugural O'Brien/Reilly Spirit of Hope Award was introduced to recognize dealers who demonstrate exceptional advocacy. Kevin Reilly of Alexandria Hyundai received the national honor, leading a group of nine regional awardees recognized for their community engagement. These ceremonies coincided with visits to Children’s National and Georgetown University’s Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, where the organization’s signature handprint events served as a visual reminder of the patients and families central to the mission.
