A&S Resources Secures $6 Billion for Massive African Rail Link
A 1,350-kilometer railway connecting landlocked Central African Republic to the deep-water Port of Kribi in Cameroon has secured $6 billion in funding from the Export-Import Bank of India. This infrastructure project aims to unlock an estimated $2.5 trillion in high-grade iron ore reserves currently trapped by regional geography.

The massive project targets a geological magnetic anomaly holding over 20 billion tonnes of iron ore, alongside significant deposits of copper, rare earth elements, and other critical minerals. The rail line will be a heavy-haul dual track capable of moving 250,000 tonnes of cargo daily, with a planned expansion capacity reaching 300,000 tonnes. By establishing a direct export route, A&S Resources intends to bypass the infrastructure bottlenecks that have long prevented large-scale mineral extraction in the region.
Development proceeds in partnership with China Railway Sixth Group Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of China Railway Group Limited that has completed over 6,200 kilometers of rail projects across the continent. With topographical and technical studies underway, operational mobilization is scheduled for late 2026. Beyond the immediate mineral output, the project is positioned to catalyze industrial and agricultural growth across the corridor, supporting local employment and regional trade integration.
