ToolDance Unveils X1 Desktop CNC Mill at IFA 2026
At IFA 2026 in Berlin, ToolDance debuted the X1 Smart Desktop CNC Mill, a machine designed to shrink industrial manufacturing capabilities into a compact, accessible footprint. The hardware targets makers and small businesses, bridging the gap between hobbyist equipment and high-performance production tools for professional-grade fabrication.
The X1 features a 1,500W permanent magnet synchronous motor spindle, capable of hitting 24,000rpm for fine finishing while maintaining torque for roughing operations. With a positioning repeatability of ±0.01mm and a 400 × 265 × 180mm work envelope, the machine handles metals, wood, and plastics, supported by an optional four or five-axis module for complex geometries. A nine-tool automatic tool changer further streamlines multi-operation jobs, reducing manual intervention.
Founder and CEO Will Wang noted that the primary goal is to provide the performance required for actual manufacturing tasks within a desktop format. To lower the technical barrier, the company bundled the hardware with ToolDance Studio, an in-house software suite. This platform includes Design for Manufacturability analysis, a visual workholding guidance system, and an image-to-model feature that converts photos into editable geometry. The ToolDance X1 will be on display at Messe Berlin through September 8, 2026, ahead of its scheduled Kickstarter launch in October.
