Kansas City's Legendary Haunted Attractions Condense Season to 13 Nights

For decades, the haunt season began creeping earlier into the calendar, occasionally opening as soon as August. As record-breaking heat became increasingly difficult for costumed performers and guests to endure, the organizers opted to abandon September openings altogether. The condensed schedule, running from October 2 through October 31, includes Thursday night sessions to ensure fans have ample access to the attractions.

Amber Arnett-Bequeaith, known as the "Queen of Haunts," views the change as a strategic advantage. Packing over five decades of expertise into a tighter window allows for a more intense experience, aligning the atmosphere with the deepening autumn chill. Edge of Hell, which first opened in 1975, remains the oldest continuously operating haunted attraction in the United States, while The Beast, established in 1991, continues to draw national attention to the West Bottoms district. Beyond the scares, the production company maintains its long-standing community outreach, including the "Monsters Against Meanness" anti-bullying initiative.
