Hoymiles Expands Home Energy Ecosystem with 22 kW Bi-directional Charger
Hangzhou-based Hoymiles has unveiled a 22 kW V2X DC charger, a hardware bridge that integrates electric vehicles directly into home energy networks. By enabling bi-directional power flow, the system allows residential solar arrays and battery storage to interact seamlessly with EVs, effectively turning parked cars into mobile grid-balancing assets.

The charger utilizes bi-directional technology to facilitate both Vehicle-to-Home and Vehicle-to-Grid operations. By bypassing a vehicle’s onboard charger, the unit converts power directly from photovoltaic panels or battery storage to the EV, minimizing energy loss. This efficiency shift increases charging speed significantly, delivering roughly 110 km of range per hour compared to the 35 km typical of conventional AC chargers.
Built for resilience, the hardware holds IP65 and IK10 ratings for environmental and impact durability. The unit integrates with the company’s existing HiOne All-in-One BESS ecosystem, allowing users to monitor consumption and switch between green power or fast-charging modes through a single mobile interface. With compatibility for 95% of mainstream electric vehicles, the system provides a standardized path for households to participate in peak shaving and virtual power plant dispatch programs.
