EcoFlow Shrinks Portable Power with Gen4 River Series

The River 260 Gen4 offers a 256Wh capacity, while the 520 Gen4 doubles that to 512Wh. Both units significantly outperform their rivals in volumetric energy density. For instance, the 520 Gen4 achieves 90.9 Wh/L, dwarfing the 37.2 Wh/L found in the Anker 535 or the previous-generation River 2 Max. This reduction in footprint makes the 520 Gen4 capable of running a standard US refrigerator for approximately four hours, despite weighing just 4.6 kilograms.

Functionality remains robust despite the downsizing. Both models include a bidirectional 140W USB-C PD3.1 port, allowing users to charge the units directly via USB-C wall adapters or solar panels, eliminating the need for proprietary charging bricks. They also function as uninterruptible power supplies with a cutover time under 10ms. EcoFlow tuned the internal architecture to minimize energy loss during DC-to-AC conversion, preserving more power for devices like drones or Starlink terminals. European consumers can expect the River 260 Gen4 in Q4 2026, followed by the 520 Gen4 in Q1 2027.
