The competitive edge of the event saw Kenyan and Ethiopian runners dominate the full marathon podiums, while local talent claimed victory in the half marathon categories. Zhang Xiaorui and Zhao Na secured the men’s and women’s titles for the shorter distance, marking a strong showing for domestic participants. Organizers prioritized inclusivity by deploying 30 first-aid-certified pacers to support elderly, visually impaired, and wheelchair athletes throughout the course.

Beyond the race, the atmosphere leaned into regional identity. Slogans written in the northeastern Chinese dialect, such as "Laotie never gives up," lined the route to bolster endurance. Spectators amplified the energy with performances ranging from heavy industry-themed choreography to traditional Yangge folk dances. A 100-meter-long "cheering corridor" over the Hun River became a focal point of this citywide engagement. Participants also received a cultural tourism passport, granting them complimentary access to major landmarks including the Shenyang Imperial Palace and the Financial Museum through September 11.
