Insightec Reaches 10,000 Patient Milestone for Incisionless Brain Surgery

The technology, which uses sound waves guided by MRI to provide incisionless neurosurgery, is now available at 62 medical centers across 20 countries. For patients like 56-year-old Spanish carpenter Juan José, the procedure offers a return to daily activities that were previously hindered by severe tremors. Jake Ghannam, Executive Vice President at Insightec, noted that the impact extends beyond clinical statistics, directly restoring the quality of life for individuals who previously relied solely on medication or invasive surgery.

Despite the rapid growth, significant disparities in access and reimbursement persist across the region. While some patients benefit from established healthcare pathways, others face geographic and financial barriers to receiving the treatment. Insightec CEO Maurice Ferré emphasized that the company’s future focus is shifting toward narrowing these gaps by working with government bodies and clinical societies to standardize care. Globally, the company has treated more than 30,000 patients across 226 centers, positioning the procedure as an increasingly common alternative for movement disorders.
