Mindstream Energy Targets 400 MW AI Hub in Jordan's Al-Risha Field
Mindstream Energy is challenging the traditional data center model by bypassing strained public grids to build a 400-megawatt AI infrastructure campus directly at Jordan's Al-Risha natural gas field. The project aims to convert local energy resources into sovereign digital capacity without competing with residential consumers for power or water.

The 245-acre development seeks to solve the infrastructure bottlenecks currently plaguing AI expansion in the United States and Europe. By utilizing dedicated onsite power generation and closed-loop cooling systems, the company intends to scale capacity to 400 MW while remaining independent of regional electricity networks. Mark Thimmig, Chairman and CEO of Mindstream Energy, argues the shift is necessary to bypass the growing conflict between computing demands and local grid reliability.
Phase one of the project is scheduled to deliver 70 MW of commercial capacity by March 2027. Rather than speculative building, the company plans to deploy infrastructure in lockstep with client demand, allowing for custom configurations regarding cooling and compute density. To ensure the remote desert site remains globally competitive, Mindstream is partnering with Orange Jordan to install high-speed fiber connectivity, linking the facility to markets across Europe and India. The project positions Jordan to export digital intelligence rather than just raw energy, potentially creating a new blueprint for energy-backed sovereign AI infrastructure.
