The analysis highlights a stark contrast between conventional and regenerative production methods. While standard grain-finished beef often carries a 7.0:1 omega-6 to omega-3 ratio, Applegate’s certified regenerative, 100% grass-fed beef reached a 1.3:1 balance. Researchers track these ratios because the two fats compete for conversion enzymes within the human body, where modern Western diets frequently suffer from an excess of omega-6.

Joseph O'Connor, president of Applegate, noted that the company’s Regenerative Health initiative seeks to move beyond soil and ecosystem benefits to examine direct impacts on human nutrition. This testing is part of a broader push to generate credible data linking farming techniques to food quality. The company is currently funding additional peer-reviewed research to determine if consuming grass-fed, organic beef provides measurable health advantages over grain-fed alternatives. These findings appear in the firm's latest mission report as they continue to refine their understanding of how specific land-management practices translate into the nutritional profile of consumer products.
