SteelSeries enters the pro controller market with a $260 price tag
SteelSeries is bypassing the entry-level market entirely, launching its Aeon Pro wireless controller for Xbox and PC at a premium $259.99. Shipping today, the device aims to justify its steep price point by integrating hardware features typically reserved for high-end peripherals, including a dedicated OLED display and a swappable battery system.
The controller’s most distinct feature is a small OLED screen embedded in the chassis. This interface allows users to switch between Xbox, PC, and Bluetooth connections or toggle genre-based presets without exiting a game. While basic remapping and rumble adjustments occur directly on the pad, deeper customization like stick deadzone calibration requires the manufacturer’s GG software on PC.
Functionality takes center stage with the power management system. The Aeon Pro utilizes the same swappable batteries found in the company’s Arctis Nova Pro headsets, providing roughly 12 hours of playtime per charge. The included base station serves as both a charging dock for the spare battery and a hub for multi-platform connectivity, featuring dual USB-C inputs that allow for automated source switching between console and computer setups. Despite these additions, the controller’s core build remains largely consistent with existing professional-grade hardware on the market.
