Vara Kumar Takes Helm at Whatfix Following Co-Founder's Death
The sudden death of Whatfix co-founder and CEO Khadim Batti on September 1 has triggered an immediate leadership transition at the digital adoption firm. Co-founder Vara Kumar, who has served as the company’s primary product and research architect since 2014, assumes the chief executive role effective immediately.
Kumar takes control of the enterprise-focused platform at a critical juncture, as the company maintains operations across its global offices in Bengaluru and San Jose. Having co-founded the business alongside Batti twelve years ago, Kumar is tasked with steering the company through its next phase of growth while attempting to preserve the original customer-centric culture established during their partnership. The executive team and the board of directors have confirmed that regional operations and support for their client base, which includes over 80 Fortune 500 companies, remain uninterrupted.
Reflecting on the transition, Kumar emphasized a commitment to the foundational vision he shared with his late partner: ensuring that technology empowers users rather than creating friction. Whatfix, which is backed by major investors including SoftBank Vision Fund 2 and Cisco Investments, continues to provide AI-native digital adoption services to its 600 global enterprise clients. The leadership change comes as the company seeks to maintain its momentum in the competitive software adoption market, leveraging its ScreenSense technology to drive process optimization for large-scale organizations.
