Ken Johnson Named CEO of Fiber Provider Bluepeak
After a six-year tenure that transformed Bluepeak into a multi-state fiber internet provider, CEO Rich Fish is stepping down to move into an advisory role. The company confirmed that Ken Johnson, a veteran executive formerly with Cable One, will take the helm on October 19, 2026.

Johnson brings three decades of broadband experience to the Denver-based firm. During his time at Cable One, he managed operations for over one million customers across 24 states. His career also includes leadership roles at NewWave Communications, SureWest Communications, and Everest Broadband. A member of the Cable TV Pioneers Class of 2025, Johnson is tasked with maintaining the momentum established by Fish, who oversaw the company’s expansion into 28 new markets across six states.
Mark Prybutok, Managing Director at GI Partners, cited Johnson’s background in network scaling and customer-centric operations as the primary drivers behind the appointment. Under the outgoing leadership of Fish, Bluepeak grew its infrastructure to reach over 515,000 homes passed, offering residential speeds of up to 5 Gig and enterprise-grade connectivity exceeding 10 Gig. As Johnson takes over, he plans to focus on completing the ongoing fiber transformation across the company's service areas in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wyoming, Oklahoma, and Texas.
