TydeCo Brings Its Global Networking Experiment to Maryland
Two decades after launching in a Maryland attic, business consultancy TydeCo is returning home to debut its signature networking event, "HR & Finance Walk Into a Bar." The September 24 gathering in Gaithersburg aims to bridge the gap between payroll and finance departments through a fusion of professional dialogue and live entertainment.

The event, hosted at Charley's Chesapeake Chophouse, marks a stateside expansion for a concept that first gained traction in Cape Town and Johannesburg. By pairing traditional business discourse with a four-course meal and live magic, TydeCo seeks to disrupt the standard networking template. CEO Matt Lescault and Director of Marketing Becky Clawson designed the format to force participants out of their routine, screen-heavy workflows.
Clawson notes that the physical environment is intentional, pulling leaders away from their desks to foster more candid problem-solving. By placing HR and finance professionals in the same room, the company hopes to synchronize departments that often operate on disconnected systems. The Maryland event is supported by Sage, a long-term partner in TydeCo’s evolution from a local accounting firm into a global entity operating across ten time zones. Following the Gaithersburg debut, the company plans to host a subsequent edition in Boston this October.
