METLEN and PETRONAS Seal Long-Term LNG Supply Deal for Greece
METLEN and PETRONAS have finalized a five-year supply agreement to deliver liquefied natural gas to Greece, a move designed to bolster regional energy security. Starting in 2027, the deal secures six annual cargoes from PETRONAS’ Atlantic portfolio, totaling approximately 0.6 billion cubic meters of gas per year.

The partnership, signed through PETRONAS subsidiary PETCO Trading (UK) Limited, functions as a pillar for METLEN’s broader strategy to diversify its procurement sources. By leveraging PETRONAS’ global capabilities, METLEN aims to increase supply flexibility for the Greek market and the wider Southeast European region, reinforcing Greece’s role as a growing energy hub.
Panayotis Kanellopoulos, Chief Executive Director for International Energy Supply & Trading at METLEN, noted that the collaboration enhances the reliability of the company's energy offerings. Datuk Adif Zulkifli, Executive Vice President and CEO of Gas & Maritime at PETRONAS, added that the agreement aligns with the company’s push to expand its presence across the Mediterranean while addressing the specific security and transition needs of European markets.
