The 2026 judging panel comprised 49 international experts, including 25 Vinitaly International Academy graduates, who evaluated wines using a 100-point scale. Only bottles that reached the 90-point threshold secured inclusion in the definitive guide. The selection process was overseen by five general chairs, including Masters of Wine Pedro Ballesteros Torres and Andrea Lonardi, ensuring the results serve as a benchmark for global buyers and industry professionals.

Tenuta Gottardi emerged as the standout performer of the competition, securing both the Winery of the Year and Best Italian Wine trophies for its 2017 Trento Doc Extra Brut Riserva POSAD'OR, which received a 98-point score. Other category winners spanned a diverse range of Italian terroir, from Malavasi’s 97-point Lugana to Possa’s 96-point Cinque Terre Sciacchetrà. Beyond the printed pages, featured wineries gain access to a year-long promotional ecosystem, including international roadshows, business forums, and digital marketing support designed to boost their visibility in a competitive export market.

Looking toward the future, Master of Wine Andrea Lonardi suggested that the guide may soon expand its scope. He noted potential for new categories focused on product innovation, emerging styles, and the contributions of young producers who are currently shaping the next generation of Italian viticulture.
