Coldwell Banker marks 120th anniversary with generational film campaign

Tracing three decades of one family’s history within a single set of walls, Coldwell Banker’s new campaign, "The Letter," shifts the focus of real estate advertising away from square footage and market data toward the emotional weight of the spaces where lives unfold.

The campaign, which debuts this fall during football season on streaming platforms, centers on a 60-second spot depicting a home as an evolving ecosystem. To capture 30 years of history, the production team utilized period-accurate techniques, including 16mm film for early scenes and intensive makeup artistry to age the cast, eschewing the industry's typical reliance on transactional imagery.

"The Letter isn't about the value of a house in dollars, cents or square footage," said Brandon Newman, Vice President of Marketing at Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC. "It's about the value of life that happens inside." The project, created alongside Siltanen & Partners and directed by Alice Gu, serves as the centerpiece for the brand's 120th-anniversary celebration. By focusing on the tradition of leaving a note for new owners, the firm aims to reframe the agent's role as a guide through life transitions rather than a mere facilitator of property sales.
