Hermeus to Manufacture Pratt & Whitney F100 Engines

The partnership integrates Pratt & Whitney’s established propulsion technology with the rapid-build production model utilized by Hermeus. For Hermeus, the license serves a dual purpose: it supports the scaling of the Quarterhorse aircraft—the world’s first privately developed unmanned supersonic jet—and positions the company as a vertically integrated airframer capable of in-house engine production.

Jessica Villardi, vice president of Fighter & Mobility Programs at Pratt & Whitney, noted that the collaboration addresses rising customer demand while maintaining the safety and quality standards associated with the F100, which has logged more than 32 million flight hours. By bringing engine manufacturing in-house, Hermeus aims to accelerate its iterative prototyping cycles, providing the defense industrial base with expanded domestic capacity for high-speed aviation systems.
