State Group Taps Fluor Executive Mark Funk as New COO
Mark Funk, a veteran of Fluor Corporation, has been named Chief Operating Officer at The State Group, a North American technical services contractor. The move signals an aggressive push by the Franklin-based firm to scale its operations and executive bandwidth as it targets further industrial market expansion.

Funk arrives at State Group after a thirty-year career, most recently serving as President of Fluor’s Advanced Technologies and Life Sciences business. During his tenure there, he managed a global workforce of 3,000 professionals and oversaw a portfolio generating over $3 billion in annual revenue. His track record includes scaling business units while navigating complex sectors ranging from semiconductor manufacturing to data centers and life sciences.
CEO Brian Jones described the appointment as a strategic necessity for the company's current inflection point. Jones emphasized that Funk’s experience in executing large-scale, high-stakes projects is intended to mirror the company’s internal goal of building organizational depth. As COO, Funk will oversee enterprise-wide operations and the company's various divisions, focusing on the integration of project management and talent development across the United States and Canada. The transition is part of a broader corporate mandate to bolster internal infrastructure and maintain the firm’s reputation among its Fortune 100 client base.
