From the rugged coastlines of the Faroe Islands to the historic landscapes of Egypt, Backroads is expanding its reach for the 2027 season. The new publication, titled A Better Way to See the World, marks a significant growth phase for the company, which has operated in the active travel sector since 1979. Beyond its traditional strongholds, the 2027 collection introduces first-time adventures in Uruguay, Michigan, and Romania. These additions join a refreshed roster of European offerings, including a specialized culinary bike tour that winds from Parma through Verona and into Venice.

Founder and CEO Tom Hale noted that the expansion is driven by a combination of field research and direct guest feedback. As traveler preferences shift toward more intimate, personalized experiences, demand for the company's private tour options has climbed nearly 10 percent compared to 2025 figures. Prospective travelers can now browse thousands of departure dates for 2027, with the company offering incentives for small groups of fewer than 12 guests. The full catalog is currently available online, with physical copies accessible through the Backroads website.
