Hyundai Funds Child Safety Initiative at Children’s Hospital of Michigan

The capital will fund specialized safety clinics where certified technicians inspect car seats for proper fit, expiration dates, and potential manufacturer recalls. During a recent event at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan-Troy, these experts worked directly with parents to correct installation errors and distribute new seats to families in need. The initiative addresses a critical gap in public awareness, as many caregivers struggle to navigate the technical requirements of modern vehicle safety systems.

Andrew Stein, president and CEO of the Children’s Foundation of Michigan, noted that proper restraint reduces the risk of serious injury or death by 70 percent. Since the Hyundai Hope partnership began in 2024, the program has facilitated 87 safety inspections and distributed 264 car seats across the region. By combining direct philanthropy with expert-led education, the collaboration aims to provide a sustainable safety net for families across Metro Detroit.
