J. Lohr Expands ARIEL Portfolio with Alcohol-Removed Sauvignon Blanc

San Jose-based J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines is adding a 2025 Sauvignon Blanc to its ARIEL label, marking the latest expansion in a four-decade-old line of alcohol-removed wines. The release arrives as market demand for non-alcoholic options continues to climb, driven by consumers who frequently alternate between standard and dealcoholized beverages.

The new Sauvignon Blanc is crafted using traditional winemaking methods, with alcohol extracted via a reverse osmosis process originally patented by Jerry Lohr in 1985. Designed to retain the varietal's signature kiwi and lemon-zest notes, the wine contains 21 calories per five-ounce serving with no added sugar. This launch follows a 16.7% sales increase for the ARIEL brand over the 52-week period ending August 8, 2026, according to Nielsen IQ data.

Cynthia Lohr, co-owner and chief brand officer, emphasized that the decision to include Sauvignon Blanc stems from the varietal's consistent growth and the company's objective to provide inclusive options for social gatherings. The brand has maintained momentum in the category, recently securing consecutive USA Today 10Best Readers' Choice awards for best non-alcoholic wine. Shipping to retailers this September, the 2025 Sauvignon Blanc carries a suggested retail price of $13.
