HiTHIUM Scales Sodium-Ion Production with New 4MWh Storage System
Xiamen-based HiTHIUM debuted its ∞Power N4.0MWh sodium-ion energy storage system on September 16, marking a shift toward full-scale industrial deployment. The company plans to begin commercial delivery of the infrastructure-grade technology by 2027, aiming to transform sodium-ion batteries into a primary utility-scale solution with a 30-year service life.

The new system centers on the ∞Cell N785Ah battery, which boasts a 20,000-cycle lifespan and supports storage durations between two and eight hours. By utilizing the company’s existing 1,000 Ah lithium-ion manufacturing lines, HiTHIUM intends to accelerate production volume while maintaining cost efficiency. Chief Technology Officer Dr. Nazar Yi emphasized that the system addresses long-standing barriers of resource availability and affordability, positioning sodium as a stable alternative to lithium for large-scale energy infrastructure.
Technical specifications for the N4.0MWh unit include a dedicated battery management system with an SOC estimation accuracy of 2.5% and compatibility with 800–1500V power conversion systems. The architecture reduces station footprints by 30% and incorporates AI-enabled thermal management to cut auxiliary power consumption. To further validate the technology, the company launched the ∞Edge Pioneer Program, which will test system performance in extreme environments with a target levelized cost of storage of RMB 0.1 per kWh.
