The RealReal Expands Luxury Resale Presence to Massachusetts
The RealReal is bringing its authenticated luxury marketplace to the Boston area, with plans to open an 1,800-square-foot storefront at The Street Chestnut Hill on October 15. The expansion marks the company's first physical footprint in Massachusetts, aiming to bridge the gap between digital consignment and personalized, in-person service.

Located at 27 Boylston Street, the new retail space will offer local consignors one-on-one evaluations for high-value items, including jewelry, watches, and designer apparel. The move follows a period of significant growth for the company, which reported a record $617 million in gross merchandise value during the second quarter of 2026. According to Chief Merchandising Officer Samantha McCandless, the Boston market was a logical next step due to its established community of engaged buyers and a local appreciation for craftsmanship that aligns with the current shift toward circular luxury.
The storefront reflects a broader trend in consumer behavior where resale is increasingly treated as a primary shopping destination rather than a secondary alternative. Data indicates that demand for vintage goods has surged 432% since 2020, driven largely by Gen Z and Millennial shoppers who now view pre-owned luxury as an essential part of their fashion ecosystem. Beyond standard retail, the Chestnut Hill location will provide private appointments for high-value acquisitions, allowing customers to navigate the complexities of authentication and market valuation directly with company experts.
