Dr. Carmen Guerra Joins Anixa Biosciences Cancer Advisory Board

Dr. Guerra holds the Ruth C. and Raymond G. Perelman Professorship at the University of Pennsylvania and serves as Associate Director of Community Outreach and Engagement at the Abramson Cancer Center. Her work has focused on expanding patient access to screening and clinical research, notably through the development of the Penn Medicine Colorectal Cancer Screening Navigation Program. Her influence extends to federal policy; her research on HPV self-collection methods provided the foundation for the first FDA-approved at-home cervical cancer screening test.

Beyond her academic roles, Dr. Guerra has been a key figure in shaping national oncology standards, serving on the American Cancer Society’s clinical practice guidelines group for multiple cancer types. At Anixa, she joins an established board that includes former American Cancer Society CEOs Karen Knudsen and Gary Reedy, as well as Herceptin inventor Mike Shepard. CEO Amit Kumar noted that her background in equitable access will be instrumental as the company navigates the next stages of its immunotherapy and vaccine pipeline.
