Study Links Career-Ready Degrees to Real-World Mentorship

The findings, published in the International Journal of Innovative Business Strategies, highlight a clear preference among alumni for integrated learning. When evaluating 11 distinct employability strategies, respondents ranked the alignment of curriculum with career paths as their top priority. This was closely followed by the importance of critical thinking, adaptability, and the inclusion of experiential learning opportunities such as internships.

Lead author Rheanna Reed noted that career relevance must be woven into the educational experience from the start rather than treated as an afterthought. Beyond quantitative data, open-ended feedback from 306 participants underscored the value of mentorship and networking. However, the researchers also identified significant barriers to these outcomes, citing time constraints, competing personal responsibilities, and financial hurdles as the primary challenges students face when attempting to engage with career-building opportunities.
