Gastech 2026 Sees $40 Billion in Energy Deals Signed in Bangkok
Energy industry leaders gathered in Bangkok for Gastech 2026 have finalized or advanced agreements valued at $40 billion. These deals, spanning LNG supply, infrastructure, and petrochemicals, signal a shift from strategic dialogue to concrete implementation as global demand for reliable, scalable power continues to rise.

The commercial activity at the event highlights a tightening integration between producers, governments, and technology providers. Key developments include a 20-year LNG supply agreement between China Gas Holdings and Venture Global, alongside significant infrastructure commitments from Petronas and PTTEP in the Malaysia-Thailand Joint Development Area. Furthermore, Samsung Heavy Industries secured $1.2 billion in shipping orders, reinforcing the maritime capacity needed to sustain global energy trade.
Beyond immediate commercial milestones, the conference served as a forum for addressing the infrastructure gap. Industry figures, including Bechtel Energy’s Paul Marsden, emphasized that project predictability remains the primary driver for capital investment. Discussions also centered on the necessity of methane abatement and the role of emerging economies, such as Zimbabwe, in expanding the global energy map through new resource discovery and grid modernization.
