Nelnet Expands Board of Directors with Two Strategic Appointments
Lincoln-based Nelnet has added Angie Klein and Ed Pallesen to its board of directors, increasing the company’s governing body to 10 members. The appointments bring fresh expertise in consumer growth strategy and global infrastructure investment to the diversified financial services firm, effective as of September 16.

Angie Klein joins the board while currently serving as head of U.S. consumer channels at Apple. Her background includes a nearly 25-year tenure at Verizon, where she held roles as chief content officer and president of Verizon Value. Klein, a University of Nebraska–Lincoln alumna, will join the firm’s Nominating and Corporate Governance, People Development and Compensation, and Compliance committees.
Ed Pallesen brings over two decades of financial experience to the board, notably from his current role as managing director and global head of infrastructure at H.I.G. Capital. His career includes significant positions at Goldman Sachs and a background as a Rhodes Scholar. Pallesen will contribute to the board's Nominating and Corporate Governance and Risk and Finance committees. Executive chairman Mike Dunlap noted that these additions are intended to strengthen the company’s existing leadership foundation and support long-term growth objectives.
