Vacuum Interrupters Debuts M18 Battery-Powered Micro-Ohmmeter
Denton-based Vacuum Interrupters has launched the LRTS10, a digital micro-ohmmeter that integrates directly with the Milwaukee M18 REDLITHIUM battery platform. By moving away from proprietary charging systems, the device allows field technicians to swap power packs mid-shift, ensuring continuous testing without downtime for recharging during critical maintenance tasks.
The LRTS10 provides six user-selectable test currents, achieving a resolution of 1.0 µΩ and a measurement accuracy of 0.2% plus 5.0 µΩ at its 10 A range. Each unit ships with a standard M18 XC5.0 battery, which the company claims can support over 1,100 individual tests on a single charge. This design choice leverages the existing infrastructure of crews already utilizing Milwaukee power tools, simplifying logistics for field operations.
Technicians can employ the tool for four-wire Kelvin measurements to verify the integrity of electrical connections across a variety of hardware. Its primary applications include testing bolted busbar joints, cable terminations, transformers, motors, and ground bonding connections. The system is engineered for versatility, functioning effectively in shop, lab, or field environments where verifying low-resistance paths is essential for switchgear and circuit breaker maintenance.
