Allergan Aesthetics Tests Skincare Solutions for Weight Loss Patients

The research, presented this week in Austin, Texas, focuses on the aesthetic side effects often associated with rapid weight loss, such as skin laxity and crepiness. In a 12-week study involving nine participants, researchers applied a growth factor serum, neck cream, and firming body lotion. Significant improvements in dryness, roughness, and wrinkles appeared as early as two weeks into the regimen. A second study combined these topical products with DiamondGlow dermabrasion treatments, showing immediate skin quality improvements for the 11 participants involved.

Beyond clinical markers, participants reported notable shifts in perceived age. Those following the 12-week skincare routine felt their facial skin appeared roughly 10 years younger after one month of twice-daily serum use. For the group using a combination of dermabrasion and topicals, the perceived age reduction reached approximately 7.5 years after six weeks. Elizabeth Makino, director of clinical development at Allergan Aesthetics, noted that these findings provide a necessary baseline for understanding how noninvasive aesthetic interventions can support patients navigating significant health and body composition changes.
