Max Verstappen Overtakes 100 Karts in Silverstone Spectacle

The race rules dictated that a driver was out the moment Verstappen’s kart drew level with their own. This high-pressure format immediately culled the competition; two minutes into the event, 63 drivers had been eliminated before even completing a single lap. Verstappen, who initially expressed concern at the daunting sight of 100 competitors ahead of him, found his rhythm quickly, clearing the pack at an average rate of one overtake every 21 seconds.

By the time the race reached its midpoint, the leaders—Dutch journalist Jacky Martens, YouTuber Zac Alsop, and Red Bull Ford Powertrains technician Lewis Osler—had built a 12-second cushion. Verstappen erased this deficit by shaving three seconds off their lead each lap. He eventually dispatched Alsop and Osler in a single corner before overtaking Martens to claim the lead. Martens held on for second place, while Osler finished third. Verstappen also secured the fastest lap of the day with a time of 2m 20.673s, outpacing the rest of the field by over two seconds.
