Johnson & Johnson CEO Joaquin Duato Joins PepsiCo Board
The board of directors at PepsiCo has elected Joaquin Duato, the current Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Johnson & Johnson, as an independent member of its governing body. Effective December 1, 2026, Duato will bring his extensive experience in global strategy and regulatory oversight to the company's Audit Committee.

PepsiCo Chairman and CEO Ramon Laguarta cited Duato’s three decades of experience at the healthcare giant as a primary driver for the appointment. Laguarta noted that Duato’s history of leading complex global businesses through innovation and portfolio optimization aligns with PepsiCo’s current strategic evolution. The move is intended to bolster the board’s capacity for risk oversight and the pursuit of long-term growth opportunities.
Robert C. Pohlad, who chairs the board’s Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee, emphasized that Duato’s background in highly regulated markets will be a significant asset. Before ascending to his current leadership roles at Johnson & Johnson in 2022 and 2023, Duato served in various executive capacities, including Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee and Worldwide Chairman of Pharmaceuticals. He joined the organization in 1989 and has since managed operations across multiple functions and geographies.
