Lincoln Educational Faces Securities Suit After Student Growth Stumble
A 24.9% single-day collapse in share price has triggered a securities class action lawsuit against Lincoln Educational Services Corp. Hagens Berman, a firm representing shareholders, is investigating whether the company misled investors regarding its student enrollment metrics, which plummeted unexpectedly between May and August 2026.

The legal action centers on the period between May 11 and August 9, 2026, following management's optimistic projections. In May, Lincoln Educational executives boasted of 19.5% growth in student starts, citing sustained demand and strong momentum. These claims initially bolstered investor confidence, driving the stock price up 10.6% on the day of the first-quarter earnings report.
However, the narrative shifted abruptly on August 10, when the company revealed that student start growth had slowed to a mere 1% for the second quarter. This discrepancy between the earlier guidance and the actual results triggered a mass sell-off, erasing more than $300 million in market capitalization in one session. Hagens Berman partner Reed Kathrein stated the firm is now probing whether the company intentionally provided misleading information to the market.
Investors who purchased LINC shares during the specified class period and suffered losses are being encouraged to come forward. The firm has set a lead plaintiff deadline of November 10, 2026, and is also soliciting information from potential whistleblowers who may have internal knowledge of the company's enrollment reporting practices.
