Archwell Capital Appoints Mike Middleman as CEO in Leadership Overhaul
After a decade driving growth at Freedom Mortgage, Mike Middleman is stepping into the role of Chief Executive Officer at Archwell Capital. The Radnor-based firm, which manages a diverse portfolio spanning professional sports, real estate, and financial services, is signaling a push toward aggressive scaling and new capital deployment.

Middleman, who remains Vice Chairman at Freedom Mortgage and Executive Chairman of the AI-focused firm Moder, will now oversee Archwell’s vast network of over 40 investments. His strategy centers on leveraging the firm’s operational expertise to incubate and expand its existing companies. "Archwell Capital is an investment management company built by operators," Middleman stated, emphasizing the firm's hands-on approach to capital deployment.
Alongside the leadership change, the company confirmed a slate of executive appointments to anchor its growth strategy. James Blanco joins as Chief Operating Officer and president of Archwell Reinsurance, while Raj Patel takes the helm as Chief Financial Officer. The firm also appointed Kat Rugge as Chief People Officer, Jordan Glick as Chief Investment Officer, and Matt Harbus as Chief Strategy Officer. Kristin McHale-Johnson will serve as Chief AI Officer, and Melissa Rubenstein has been named General Counsel. Founded in 2013, the firm operates out of Fort Lauderdale and its new flagship office in Radnor, Pennsylvania, employing more than 10,000 people worldwide.
