Shanghai’s Jing’an District to Host International Audio-Visual Carnival

From September 24 to October 18, Shanghai’s Jing’an District will transform into a hub of digital innovation as the 2026 International Audio-Visual Arts Carnival debuts. The event aims to bridge the gap between creative technology and urban commerce, drawing global professionals to showcase advancements in the city’s cultural tourism landscape.

The carnival anchors its program in four primary initiatives: an international arts exhibition, an immersive audiovisual show, a technology-focused salon, and a closing gala. The exhibition will feature contributions from national media outlets, global tech brands, and creative student projects. Complementing this, the "Audiovisual Wonderland" show, running September 25-27, utilizes LiDAR-based tracking, motion capture, and 3D mapping to reinterpret intangible cultural heritage through live performance.

Beyond these core events, Jing’an will host a series of district-wide activations through mid-October, including the "Shining Shanghai Light Up Jing’an" series and the 14th Shibei Beer Festival. A central focus is the international sci-tech culture and fashion week, launching September 28 along Nanjing West Road. Partnering with Tencent Music Entertainment Group, the commercial district will host nearly 100 events, functioning as an "innovation laboratory" to highlight local progress in metaverse applications and AI. By integrating these artistic displays with retail and sports, organizers intend to sustain consumer momentum across the district well into the autumn season.
