Accro Bioscience Launches Phase IIb Trial for UC Drug AC-101
A first patient has been dosed in a Phase IIb clinical trial for AC-101, a selective RIPK2 inhibitor developed by Accro Bioscience to treat moderate-to-severe ulcerative colitis. This multicenter study expands the evaluation of the drug across approximately 50 clinical sites to determine its impact on achieving clinical remission.

The trial employs a double-blind, placebo-controlled design featuring three distinct arms: two cohorts receiving different doses of AC-101 and one control group. Researchers have set the clinical remission rate at Week 12 as the primary endpoint, with secondary goals encompassing histologic remission and long-term maintenance of these outcomes. This study builds upon earlier investigations, including Phase I testing in Australia and China and a completed Phase Ib proof-of-concept study in Chinese patients, which yielded favorable safety and pharmacokinetic data.
AC-101 functions by targeting the RIPK2 protein, a critical mediator within the NOD signaling pathway linked to inflammatory bowel disease. Accro Bioscience intends to present the specific efficacy and safety findings from their Phase Ib data at the upcoming UEG Week 2026. The company continues to focus its proprietary platform on regulating cell death mechanisms to address various autoimmune and inflammatory conditions.
