Apple Begins Payouts for Siri AI Settlement
Owners of select iPhone 15 and 16 models in the United States can now file for a piece of a 250-million-dollar settlement. The legal action stems from allegations that Apple misled consumers by marketing devices as being built for AI features that were not fully available at launch.
Eligible customers who purchased an iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, or any iPhone 16 model between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025, are entitled to submit a claim. While initial estimates suggest a payout of 25 dollars per device, the final amount could reach 95 dollars depending on total participation. Claimants must provide their contact details and the device serial number through the official settlement website before the December 21, 2026 deadline.
The class action lawsuit centered on claims that Apple created false expectations during its 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference. Plaintiffs argued the company marketed the iPhone 16 series as being built for Apple Intelligence, yet the devices shipped without the promised AI-upgraded Siri capabilities. Although these features only arrived with the release of iOS 18.1 earlier this month, Apple continues to deny any wrongdoing regarding its marketing practices.
