COLOLIGHT CHIMERA Mounts Gaming Audio Directly to Your Chair

Headband pressure and warm earcups remain a persistent annoyance for long-session gamers, but a new hardware entrant aims to eliminate the physical burden. Launching September 22 on Kickstarter, the COLOLIGHT CHIMERA ditches the traditional headset design in favor of an adjustable, chair-mounted open-ear audio system.

The CHIMERA system functions by positioning acoustic units around the listener rather than clamping them over the ears. By mounting directly to a gaming chair, the device allows users to calibrate height, distance, and angle to create a personalized soundstage. This configuration intends to replicate the positional accuracy of high-end headphones while maintaining the open, expansive character typically associated with speakers.

Technically, the unit relies on a 2.4 GHz wireless connection with a latency of 19 ms, supported by a nine-driver array and a dedicated low-frequency driver. The accompanying software provides specialized EQ profiles for titles ranging from competitive shooters like VALORANT and Counter-Strike 2 to expansive cinematic worlds like Cyberpunk 2077. For multiplayer interaction, the system utilizes AI-powered noise cancellation algorithms to process voice input without requiring a boom microphone near the face.

The product enters the market at a $219 Super Early Bird price point. By bypassing the need for head-worn hardware, COLOLIGHT targets players who prioritize comfort during extended streaming or competitive sessions without sacrificing the directional audio cues necessary for gaming performance.
