EssilorLuxottica Upgrades Nuance Audio Glasses With Enhanced Voice Tech
With a price tag starting at $829, EssilorLuxottica has launched the Nuance Audio Plus, a refined iteration of its FDA-cleared hearing aid glasses. The new model integrates advanced sound-processing technology into standard-looking temple arms, offering users improved voice clarity and extended battery performance while maintaining a discreet, everyday aesthetic.

The updated hardware focuses on tackling speech intelligibility in chaotic environments. Through a mobile companion app, users toggle between two distinct audio profiles: Frontal, which isolates the voice of a direct conversational partner, and All-Around, which provides general environmental amplification. The system allows for granular control, offering four pre-configured amplification settings alongside three tiers of background noise reduction.
EssilorLuxottica addressed common friction points by adding physical controls directly to the frames. Unlike the previous generation, the Plus model features a dedicated power slider and independent volume rockers, reducing the need for constant smartphone interaction. A clever power-management feature allows the glasses to enter sleep mode simply by folding the temple arms. While the device now supports direct answering of voice calls, this specific convenience remains exclusive to iPhone users. Available in three frame styles—Square, Pathos, and Upturn—and five colorways, the glasses are currently rolling out across the United States. The original, entry-level Nuance Audio model remains in the lineup, starting at $699, while the Plus variant commands a premium for its hardware enhancements and superior battery life of up to 10 hours.
