Ski-Doo Marks 18 Years of Free Backcountry Avalanche Training

The program, hosted in partnership with Backcountry Access (BCA), will span more than 35 locations across Canada and the United States. Since its inception, the initiative has trained over 30,000 riders, emphasizing that safety remains a collective responsibility. Sessions cater to all experience levels, ranging from novices to seasoned backcountry veterans, and are open to owners of any snowmobile brand.

Curriculum delivery features industry experts Marshall Dempster in Canada and Mike Duffy in the U.S., both of whom bring decades of rescue and forecasting experience to the classroom. Training modules cover route planning, hazard recognition, and the practical application of rescue equipment like transceivers, probes, and shovels. Beyond the in-person seminars, the program provides ongoing support through the Ski-Doo Owner Zone and the SLEDucation video series. Attendees are encouraged to register through local dealers to secure their spots and gain opportunities to win professional-grade safety gear provided by BCA.
