Fly Creek Cider Mill Named America’s Top Cidery

The 2026 ranking marks a resurgence for the destination, which previously took the title in 2024 before placing third in 2025. Owner Bill Michaels attributed the win to the loyalty of visitors and the hard work of his staff, noting that the recognition validates the mill's commitment to maintaining its 19th-century roots.

Operating since 1856, the facility remains a functioning piece of history rather than a mere museum exhibit. Cider production continues to rely on an 1889 Boomer & Boschert press, powered by a 1872 water turbine that utilizes the millpond’s flow. This dedication to authentic, water-powered production allows visitors to witness traditional pressing methods firsthand. Beyond the press, the site has evolved into a comprehensive agritourism destination featuring a restaurant, bakery, and a tasting room dedicated to New York hard ciders and wines. With the 2026 harvest pressing already in motion, the mill remains open to the public daily through December 20.
