GEOSAT Joins SDG Data Alliance to Scale Satellite Coverage for Islands

GEOSAT, recognized by the European Commission as one of five key very high resolution (VHR) satellite operators, will provide the technical infrastructure to transform raw space data into actionable intelligence. By collaborating with the PVBLIC Foundation, the company seeks to assist island states in managing forestry, agriculture, and coastal monitoring—capabilities that remain difficult for individual nations to secure independently. This move formalizes a commitment to integrate space-based assets into local value chains, following GEOSAT’s previous work with the Maldives Space Research Organisation.

Francisco Vilhena da Cunha, CEO of GEOSAT, emphasized that satellite imagery functions as a critical asset for climate adaptation. The company is already developing pilot projects under the Alliance framework to ensure that VHR data translates into measurable social development. This effort contributes to the broader goals of the Antigua & Barbuda Agenda for Small Island Developing States, providing a scalable model for countries that require precise, sub-meter ground intelligence to respond to environmental shifts and emergency scenarios.
