Maynard Institute Brings Tuition-Free Leadership Training to Burbank
Editors and managers across California are invited to Burbank this October for a two-and-a-half-day intensive workshop designed to navigate the shifting demands of modern newsrooms. Hosted by the Robert C. Maynard Institute, the program addresses the practical and ethical challenges facing today's media leaders.
The Propel Regional Training, running from October 22 to 24 at the Los Angeles Marriott Burbank Airport Hotel, offers specialized coaching for frontline and mid-career professionals working in print, digital, broadcast, and audio platforms. In partnership with California State University, Northridge and The Tom and Ethel Bradley Center, the curriculum focuses on leadership, project management, and the ethical integration of artificial intelligence in news operations.
Participants will engage in workshops covering critical topics, including immigration reporting, community-centered journalism, and the navigation of difficult workplace conversations. The faculty, comprised of award-winning editors and diverse media leaders, aims to equip attendees with tools to foster newsroom integrity and sustainability. While the program is tuition-free and includes daily meals, the Maynard Institute also offers limited travel assistance and discounted hotel rates for qualifying applicants.
