Assort Health Scales AI Patient Access to 1,300 Primary Care Providers
San Francisco-based Assort Health is expanding its AI-driven patient access platform across primary care, now supporting over 1,300 providers. The technology autonomously resolves 95% of routine interactions, including scheduling and medication refills, while routing clinically complex cases to human staff to maintain safety and service quality.

Primary care settings present significant operational challenges, as a single call queue often juggles urgent symptoms, annual physicals, chronic care needs, and pediatric requirements. Assort integrates directly with EHR and practice management systems to apply specific clinical and payer rules before any interaction is finalized. By utilizing historical data, the platform eliminates the need for returning patients to repeat insurance or scheduling preferences.
Practice leaders report measurable improvements in efficiency. Annapolis Internal Medicine utilized the platform to handle a flu shot campaign, where automated outreach accounted for 61% of all appointments scheduled. The practice reported a 75% reduction in hold times and a 23% increase in patient satisfaction. Similarly, Pediatric Associates of Southwest Missouri successfully managed seasonal volume surges without additional hiring, saving 45 staff hours per month and increasing overall staff capacity by 68%.
Jon Wang, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Assort Health, noted that the core challenge lies in discerning clinical intent rather than simply answering calls. The platform is designed to manage the patient journey by identifying when a clinician must intervene, ensuring that administrative automation does not compromise the quality of care. The company’s expansion into family medicine, internal medicine, and pediatrics follows its previous deployments in orthopedics, dermatology, and urology.
