Statecraft Acquires Daybreak to Automate Federal Services
Federal agencies spend roughly $100 billion annually on outsourced services, a cycle of billable hours that Statecraft aims to shatter. By acquiring McLean-based Daybreak LLC, the AI startup intends to replace labor-intensive contractor teams with synthetic workflows, promising to redirect taxpayer funding from manual administration toward mission-critical human expertise.
The integration of Daybreak’s applied AI and data analytics expertise allows Statecraft to scale its Workforce platform, which deploys "Inorganics"—AI agents capable of managing document routing, form preparation, and requirement validation. Unlike traditional software, these workflows operate within strict agency-defined approval chains, maintaining human oversight while aiming to reduce operational costs by up to 80%.
Statecraft CEO Alex Cohen views the acquisition as a direct challenge to the government’s reliance on consulting firms. By embedding Daybreak’s experience in secure, high-stakes federal environments, the company plans to move agencies beyond pilot programs into fully autonomous, auditable systems. Manik Rath, Daybreak’s CEO, will remain involved during the transition to ensure continuity for existing government clients as the firm shifts its focus toward delivering measurable outcomes rather than billable headcount.
