Google Photos transforms personal galleries into a virtual wardrobe
By leveraging existing images stored in personal galleries, Google Photos is rolling out an AI-powered tool that allows users to virtually experiment with their own clothing. The feature transforms static snapshots into a digital closet, enabling users to mix and match individual garments to visualize new outfits before getting dressed.
The interface organizes pieces into categories like tops, bottoms, skirts, dresses, and shoes. Users can browse historical looks captured in previous photos or assemble entirely new combinations. A dedicated button located in the corner of the outfit preview triggers the virtual try-on simulation, providing a preview of how the items might pair together.
This development marks a shift from Google’s previous AI implementation, which was restricted to testing apparel while shopping through Search. The new functionality will debut on Android devices later this summer, with an iOS expansion scheduled to follow shortly thereafter.
