Leopard Imaging and Lumotive Unveil Sirius Max 3D Perception Platform
Fremont-based Leopard Imaging and optics pioneer Lumotive have launched the Sirius Max, a software-defined 3D LiDAR platform designed to sharpen the vision of autonomous machines. By integrating programmable beam-steering with high-resolution depth sensing, the system extends operational range beyond 20 meters while maintaining a compact, solid-state footprint for industrial robotics.

The Sirius Max (LI-AR0234-AF0130-TX10-GMSL2-140H) moves away from conventional flood-illumination time-of-flight systems. Instead, it utilizes Lumotive’s Light Control Metasurface technology to steer light dynamically. This architecture enhances optical efficiency and signal-to-noise ratios, allowing the sensor to reject ambient light interference while operating without any moving mechanical parts.
Leopard Imaging CEO Bill Pu noted that the platform allows AI systems to perceive environments at greater distances and react with increased speed. By consolidating RGB imaging, iToF depth processing, and synchronization into a single GMSL2 camera module, the system simplifies hardware architecture for developers working on SLAM, collision avoidance, and complex navigation. With 1MP depth resolution and programmable region-of-interest scanning, the platform is optimized for deployment in humanoid robotics, automotive monitoring, and smart infrastructure.
